Fordongianus Baths

The Roman Baths of Fordongianus are an important archaeological site in Sardinia, located on the left bank of the river Tirso, in the Upper Oristanese. There are still springs from which water gushes that, crossed the underlying volcanic bank, reach the temperature of 54 °.

The baths are located in the immediate vicinity of the village of Fordongianus. The spa complex consists of two establishments: an original plant centered on the natatio, which exploited the hot water sources, and another artificial heating made up of different rooms. The lack of excavation data prevents an easy dating of their construction but on the basis of the architectural techniques adopted it is believed that they were built respectively in the 1st and 3rd centuries AD.

The thermal water flows into the river Tirso and settles in the tanks natural, allows you to enjoy a relaxing hot bath just in front of the archaeological area.
